Based at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre in Chippenham, the Wiltshire
County Archaeology Service safeguard's Wiltshire's archaeology and provides
information and advice on the historic environment.
As Assistant County Archaeologist, you will be advising on the protection of
Wiltshire’s historic environment, promoting it so it is accessible to present
generations and preserving it for future generations. The role is largely
devoted to giving archaeological advice to planners and landowners but will
also involve some outreach, community and other project work.
If you are a heritage professional with a passion for Wiltshire’s past with
strong communication and negotiation skills and are a good team player, this
could be an ideal role for you. You will need to have a degree in archaeology,
experience in archaeological fieldwork, development control archaeology and
identification of threats to the archaeological resource
