Role description:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our UK QA
team. The ideal candidate will be capable of working autonomously across the
full testing lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test planning through to
execution, reporting, and automation.
The role requires an individual who can collaborate effectively with project
teams and stakeholders, understand business and technical requirements, identify
risks, define appropriate test approaches, and deliver high-quality testing
outcomes with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of
quality engineering practices, test automation capabilities, and the adoption of
innovative technologies, including AI-assisted testing approaches.
Role accountabilities:
· Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to understand requirements,
identify risks and define appropriate test approaches.
· Produce test estimates and contribute to project planning and delivery
activities.
· Create and maintain formal testing artefacts, including Test Strategies, Test
Plans, Test Specifications, and Test Reports, aligned with contractual and
regulatory delivery requirements.
· Ensure appropriate test coverage through risk-based testing, requirements
traceability, and quality assurance best practices.
· Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites and supporting frameworks
using Playwright and TypeScript.
· Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and coverage through
automation, tooling, process improvements and AI-assisted solutions.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
practical experience.
· 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to
work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
· Experience leading or coordinating testing activities across software
projects.
· Experience analysing requirements, assessing testing risks, estimating testing
effort, and defining test approaches.
· Experience creating and maintaining formal, auditable testing documentation in
contractual, client-facing, or regulated delivery environments.
· Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation using
Playwright and TypeScript.
· Experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrated systems.
· Experience writing and executing SQL queries, with the ability to understand
database structures and interrogate data for validation and analysis
Desirable Skills & Experience:
· ISTQB certification or equivalent.
· Experience testing within an Intelligent Transport Systems environment.
· Experience implementing test automation within CI/CD pipelines.
· Experience working within regulated or contractual delivery environments.
· Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve testing, automation and the
software delivery process.
