Electrified Powertrain (ePT) team is responsible for the development of Hybrid
and Electric Propulsion Systems. This includes the key High Voltage vehicle
system components including Battery Pack, e-Motors, inverters, DCDC converters
and on-board chargers.
Job purpose
To support the delivery of Systems Engineering activities across Electrified
Powertrain commodities (EDUs, HV Batteries, Charging Components) within AML
electrified programmes.
Key duties and responsibilities
As an Electrified Powertrain (ePT) Systems Engineer, you will support the
delivery of ePT systems across the development lifecycle (concept to
production), including:
* Quality: Assist in identification and tracking of system-level risks and
quality concerns using structured methods (e.g. FMEA, robustness studies).
* Cost & Weight: Support target tracking and data consolidation across
commodities to ensure alignment with programme objectives.
* Function: Contribute to the development and maintenance of System Design
Specifications and requirements, ensuring traceability and consistency across
commodities.
* Integration & Package: Assist in cross-commodity integration activities,
supporting resolution of interface, packaging, and compatibility issues.
Apply Systems Engineering principles to support:
* Requirements definition, decomposition, and traceability
* Interface definition and management across ePT subsystems
Contribute to verification & validation (V&V) activities:
* Support DVP development and alignment across commodities
* Support system-level validation activities
Support supplier engagement activities, including:
* Monitoring deliverables and documentation
* Supporting technical reviews and data assessments
* Assisting in RFQ and benchmarking activities
Support programme delivery and governance, including preparation of:
* Technical documentation (requirements, specifications, reports)
* Status updates and issue tracking artefacts
Experience and qualifications
Essential experience
The essential areas of previous experience required to undertake this role
include:
* Basic understanding of Systems Engineering principles (requirements, V&V,
integration)
* Strong grounding in engineering fundamentals (e.g. physics, electrical
principles, basic control concepts)
* Exposure to electrified powertrain systems (EDU, HV battery, or charging)
* Familiarity with engineering tools (e.g. requirements management,
MATLAB/Simulink, or similar)
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred experience
Preferred areas of experience include:
* Awareness of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) processes and systems engineering
lifecycle
* Exposure to automotive software development processes
* Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. Polarion, DOORS)
* Basic understanding of functional safety (ISO 26262) and/or cyber security
principles
* Exposure to model-based development tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink)
* Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams
Essential education/ qualifications
Engineering Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Automotive and/or related
field
Preferred education/ qualifications
MSc/MEng in related field.

Additional requirements
Ability to travel to engineering partners and suppliers (UK and worldwide) on a
regular basis is essential.
