The UK Operations Leader owns and executes the Operations strategy that underpins the Health and Talent business strategies, leading day‑to‑day delivery through a scalable and resilient operating model while ensuring strong client outcomes, cost discipline and effective risk management.
This is a hybrid position working both remotely and from our head offices in London

What the day will look like
Strategic Leadership & Direction
Set the strategic direction for the Health and Talent Business Governance and Operations team aligned to Aon, Solution Line, ABS and regulatory priorities
Translate Business Governance and Operations strategy into clearly defined goals, underpinned by a delivery roadmap, with measurable outcomes.
Act as a thought partner to senior leadership in relation to business governance and operations activities.
Governance & Control
Own and maintain robust governance frameworks covering decision‑making, audit, risk and compliance and controls.
Ensure consistency, clarity and accountability across business governance forums, policies and processes.
Partnership with Solution Line and ABS leaders to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
Operational Excellence & Efficiency
Drive standardisation, simplification and automation of processes to improve productivity and manage expense.
Ensure business operations are scalable, resilient and fit for growth.
Financial Management
Lead the Business Governance and Operations annual budget and multi‑year financial planning process, aligned to business strategy.
Maintain an accurate forecast, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
MI & Reporting
Define and own clear KPIs, MI and reporting to track performance, risk and progress.
Ensure leadership has timely, accurate and decision‑ready insights.
Drive continuous improvement through data‑led insights.
People
Lead and role‑model effective leadership, setting clear direction, priorities and expectations while fostering an inclusive, accountable high‑performance culture.
Own organisational design, capacity and talent strategy, ensuring the right skills, succession coverage and sustainable workload to deliver business priorities for Business Governance and Operations team
Enable high performance through effective performance management and targeted capability development aligned to strategic priorities.
Act as a proactive and collaborative member of the Leadership Team, contributing to collective decision‑making, shared ownership of outcomes and enterprise‑wide priorities.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
Knowledge
Deep understanding of business governance and operations within a regulated, professional services or financial services environment.
Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, including decision‑making structures, risk management, audit, compliance and internal controls.
Solid financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting and multi‑year financial planning aligned to strategic priorities.
Understanding of operational excellence principles, including standardisation, process simplification, automation and scalability.
Experience defining and using MI, KPIs and performance reporting to support executive decision‑making.
Knowledge of organisational design, workforce planning, talent management and succession planning.
Skills
Strategic leadership skills, with the ability to set direction, translate strategy into execution plans, and deliver measurable outcomes.
Strong influencing and partnering skills, able to act as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders across Solution Lines and ABS.
Proven capability in governance design and control ownership, ensuring clarity, consistency and accountability across forums and processes.
Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities early and take proactive action.
Financial management skills, including budget ownership, forecasting accuracy, and risk/opportunity management.
Data‑driven decision‑making skills, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
