The Shift Engineer will provide technical support to the fulfilment operation, ensuring optimum asset reliability and performance through effective maintenance and continuous improvement activities. The role is responsible for maintaining plant operations, improving equipment availability, reducing downtime, and supporting the safe dispatch of quality products. THG Omega is a highly automated fulfilment site that continues to evolve as new technologies and innovations are introduced across the operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a range of advanced automated systems critical to the site's performance. The site currently operates a comprehensive Vanderlande automation system, including HDS (High Density Storage), ADAPTO, and Pallet Crane Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS). These systems are integrated with an extensive conveyor network that feeds into a state-of-the-art Crossorter, enabling high-volume, efficient order processing and distribution. In addition, the site houses a large-scale AutoStore system, currently operating with 100 robots and undergoing a significant expansion project that will increase storage capacity from 120,000 bins to 240,000 bins, alongside an increase to around 270 robots. This expansion will further enhance the site's automated storage and fulfilment capabilities. The operation also includes a Geek+ robotic solution, consisting of around 100 Geek+ P800 V5/V6 autonomous mobile robots, which support goods movement and fulfilment activities across key operational areas. Working within this environment, the Shift Engineer will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, troubleshooting faults across multiple automation platforms, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and contributing to the ongoing development of one of THG's most technologically advanced fulfilment centres. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical maintenance support across the site to ensure safe and effective resolution of live issues. Drive proactive fault prevention and continuous improvement activities. Support and develop the site PPM programme. Carry out root cause analysis on major engineering stoppages. Support Health & Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement actions. Promote reliability-focused maintenance techniques including TPM, RCA, RCM and FMEA. Coach and support operators on site assets. Assist with project activities and change initiatives. Maintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system. Ensure engineering activities comply with food safety standards and traceability requirements. Work collaboratively with other departments to identify improvement opportunities. Requirements: Minimum 3 years' hands-on electrical engineering experience. BTEC Level 3 and NVQ Level 3 preferably electrically biased with mechanical skills, or equivalent qualification. HNC in Electrical Engineering desirable. 17th/18th Edition desirable. Experience with PLC and servo drive diagnostics. Good knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic systems. Strong focus on asset reliability and continuous improvement. High level of Health & Safety awareness. Results-driven with a proactive approach to improvement.
